Shane lives about an hour north of Melbourne, in rural Australia. His KT started life being built by April Storm (if you’ve been to a convention with Mando’s, there’s a good chance they were wearing her helmet or gauntlets). KT-16 went by the name R2-QT, because April didnt want to use KT without permission, but she was recently transferred over to Shane as April knew of his passion for droids and his commitment to doing community work.
Shane has a real heart to help others with health conditions after struggling with his own – so he accepted the challenge and is already converting KT-16 from a static statue to a moving, fully featured droid. As of last weekend she has lights, sounds and dome rotation. Another build in a couple weeks will see her get her ‘feet’ with her first mobile planned for the Oz Comic Con in early June!

2022 Melbourne OZ Comic Con
“OZCC is one of the biggest pop-culture conventions held yearly in Melbourne. KT-16 made her debut, alongside seven other local droid builders and their droids. She was a huge crowd favourite! A lot was learned, and we cant wait for her next outing.”
